
General Manager
Movement Fitness | Rockford, IL
Full-Time Leadership Role | Reports to CEO
Salary Range: $50,000–$65,000 (based on experience and performance)
Position Summary
The General Manager (GM) is the operational leader of Movement Fitness, responsible for ensuring the business runs smoothly, efficiently, and in alignment with company strategy—while delivering a high-level member experience.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the GM partners in strategic planning and owns execution across operations, sales, team leadership, and financial performance. This role is ideal for a strong operator who values systems, people, and results—and who can execute with urgency without losing sight of the big picture.

Key Responsibilities
1. Operations & Strategic Execution (Top Priority)
Partner with the CEO on strategic planning, business goals, and operational priorities
Translate strategic plans into clear action steps, timelines, and accountability
Own daily operations to ensure smooth workflows, efficiency, and productivity
Optimize systems across scheduling, billing, communication, and internal processes
Coordinate and execute events, initiatives, and operational projects
Ensure the facility is clean, safe, organized, and consistently client-ready
Oversee equipment maintenance, vendors, and facility needs
Develop, document, and maintain SOPs that ensure consistency and high standards
2. Sales & Revenue Growth
Execute follow-up calls and communication for new leads and inquiries
Conduct sales consultations for memberships and training services
Develop and execute sales plans aligned with company revenue goals
Monitor conversion rates, retention, and overall sales performance
Analyze sales data and trends to identify growth opportunities
Prepare sales reports, forecasts, and insights for leadership
3. Client Experience
Ensure every client feels known, supported, and cared for
Oversee onboarding, check-ins, renewals, and feedback systems
Resolve client concerns quickly and professionally
Partner with the Head Coach to maintain training and service standards
Support service improvements aligned with member needs and company vision
4. Team Leadership & Culture
Recruit, onboard, schedule, and lead all staff
Lead team meetings, 1:1s, and performance reviews
Drive accountability while supporting professional growth
Reinforce Movement Fitness core values through daily leadership
Build a positive, high-performance, people-first culture
5. Financial & Business Leadership
Monitor revenue, expenses, payroll, and member billing
Use KPIs and dashboards to guide operational decisions
Collaborate with the CEO on budgeting and forecasting
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability
Provide regular financial and performance updates

Required Qualifications
2–3+ years of management or leadership experience (service-based business preferred)
Proven experience in operations, systems management, and team leadership
Experience with consultative sales and client retention
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Comfortable with business software and reporting tools
CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
Physical Requirements & Additional Information
Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand and move throughout the facility for extended periods
This is not a coaching position; light physical tasks may be required
